How to Embed Liberation into Your Work

It’s time to change how you run your students’ unions! Meet NUS’s Liberation Officers and take inspiration from other delegates as you discuss how to make your work inclusive and innovative. This fringe session will explore how liberation can be integrated throughout your activity and campaigns.

Liberation Students & The State
5pm – 6pm (Presenters: NUS Liberation Officers)
This information session will present the stark facts of the extent to which the state impacts on students from liberation backgrounds. Students’ Unions have the power and privilege to campaign on wider societal and state oppression, from welfare reform, to Prevent and Gender Recognition Act. Join us to collaborate and collectively campaign to improve the lives and experiences of many of your students.

Day Two 

Grassroot-Activist Development
10:30am – 12noon (Presenters: NUS Liberation Officers)
Invest in your volunteers and activists and you will make a difference! Join NUS’ liberation officers to discuss how sabbatical officers and staff can support the development of grassroot-activism and bring a new force of activists in your union. This work is supported by our Activist Development Training offer – come along to find out more!

Workplace Drop-In 
2pm – 3:30pm (Presenters: Ricky Chotai, NUS & Sarah Kloska, NUS)
It’s the new place to be! Come along to this drop-in session for advice, top-tips and practical guidance on how to make the most of the new online networking space. Join our communities of practice, collaborate with local unions and share good practice at the touch of the screen! Our friendly team are keen to help you and answer any questions you have about Facebook Workplace.
